Hacking Abilities

Basic Hack (System Intrusion)

Decode Node

Disrupts an enemy's internal systems and temporarily boosts damage they take. Stacking multiple Decode nodes on same path amplifies the effect.

Tip: Diminishing returns after 2x Decode on same target. If you've already Decoded an enemy twice, switch targets or use Multihack instead. Best single-target damage tool.

Multihack Node

Links multiple enemies together, disabling armor across a group simultaneously. Weak points stay exposed longer than Decode but damage reduction applies.

Tip: Underrated for large groups. Pair with Impact Blaster (Shockwave Gun) to clear 3-4 enemies in one burst. Print this at the Shelter early — it changes group combat completely.

Critical Down

Tip: Excellent for buying breathing room in tight corridors. Knocked-down enemies cannot attack for several seconds. Follow up with charged melee for free critical damage.

Overdrive Protocol

Massive area-of-effect energy burst triggered by pressing R3+L3 simultaneously. Stuns ALL nearby enemies and auto-exposes every enemy's weak points for a short window. Gauge fills by completing successful hacks.

Tip: SAVE for boss phases or ambush rooms with 5+ enemies. During Overdrive, damage output effectively triples because you skip all individual hacking mini-games. Never waste on single enemies.

Beacon Interference / Environmental Hack

Tip: Available whenever a beacon is present in the environment. Beacons are marked on map. If Diana is interrupted during beacon hack, EDAS triggers Mass Printing — doubles enemy count immediately. Protect Diana during this.

Hacking Node Types

Blue Square

Standard progression node — boosts hack effectiveness when passed through. Optional but highly recommended.

Priority: High — always route through 1-2

Green Square

Exit node — finalizes the hack and exposes enemy weak points.

Priority: Essential — must reach this to complete hack

Yellow Square

Bonus node found on environment floor. Lowers enemy defense significantly when included in hack path.

Priority: Optional — grab when not risky

Red Square

Warning node — causes hack failure or resets progress if cursor passes through.

Priority: Avoid at all costs

Some enemies have a firewall layer overlaid on their hack grid. While the firewall is active, specific sections of the grid are locked and cannot be traversed.

How it works:

›Firewall zones appear as blocked regions on the hack grid.
›You must shoot the corresponding physical firewall node on the enemy's body with Hugh to unlock that grid section.
›Once the physical node is destroyed, the corresponding grid area opens up.
›Strategic decision: spend ammo to clear firewall vs. work around it with minimum effort.

Tip: Impact Blaster clears physical firewall nodes in one shot. Use this to open up more efficient grid paths rather than taking the long way around.

Moving Target Hack

Aerial Drones

Aerial drones and certain mobile units require a special hacking approach — the hack grid cannot be opened unless Diana stays within range of the moving target.

How it works:

›Diana must chase the drone and maintain short range to keep the hack active.
›The hack grid has a fixed solution path — learn it quickly and act decisively.
›Warning icons on the grid indicate time-sensitive nodes that close if too slow.
›If Diana falls out of range, the hack resets. Keep Hugh moving to escort Diana.

Tip: Once successfully hacked, the drone becomes a temporary ally. It\'s worth the effort — especially against large enemy groups where an aerial ally shifts the whole fight.
